Data sourced from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) annual surveys, state vital records offices, and funeral home price surveys, 2025–2026.
Sources: Cremation and burial cost ranges are compiled from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) annual member surveys, state funeral board price surveys, and direct funeral home General Price List (GPL) data collected in 2025–2026.
Methodology: Ranges represent the typical low-to-high prices reported across multiple funeral homes in each state. Outlier prices (extremely low or high) are excluded. Death certificate costs and cremation waiting periods are sourced from official state vital records offices.
Limitations: Actual costs vary significantly by provider, metropolitan area, and the specific services selected. These ranges are intended as planning estimates — always request a General Price List from your funeral home for exact pricing. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must provide this information.
